West Oxfordshire District Council has prepared an ambitious Local Recovery Plan to support our local economy and town centres, alongside action to strengthen local communities and on climate and nature. We are determined to tackle the economic challenges facing us and ‘build back better’ as the district recovers from the impacts of the pandemic.
About the role…
We are looking for a self-motivated and pro-active individual to play a key role assisting our economic development work in West Oxfordshire as we recover from the COVID pandemic. The Economic Development Assistant is a new role so that we can gear up to support our district’s economic recovery.
You will support the work of the Business Development Officer and Market Towns Officer in taking forward a programme of Council action. In addition to project work you will help organise and host meetings and events, and help prepare our business newsletter and articles for our website.
Part of your role will be to deal with enquiries from businesses in a clear and helpful manner and maintain a good understanding of support available for businesses so you can direct those needing it to the most appropriate help available.
This role is ideally suited to someone embarking on a career in Economic Development.

Four partner Councils (West Oxfordshire District Council, Cheltenham Borough Council, Forest of Dean District Council and Cotswold District Council) have created Publica Group Ltd to deliver more efficient and improved services. You will need…
- A minimum of 5 qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 2 or GCSE at Grade C/4 or above, must include Maths and English
- Ability to build customer relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work with other partners such as the Local Enterprise Partnership
- Experience of MS Office
